AUK Students Elect 8th Student Government Cabinet
On May 4, 2025, the American University of Kurdistan (AUK) held its Student Government elections, marking the selection of the 8th Student Government cabinet. Organized by the Office of Student Affairs, the elections brought energy and enthusiasm to campus as students cast their votes to choose their next student leaders.
Chaldean American Association for Health Professionals (CAAHP-USA) Visit to AUK
On May 12, 2025, AUK leadership welcomed the Chaldean American Association for Health Professionals (CAAHP-USA) to the American University of Kurdistan (AUK). The delegation was received by President Dr. Randall Rhodes, Secretary of the Board of Trustees Dr. Honar Issa, Provost Dr. Triona Croke, Vice President of Finance and Administration Mr. Omed Zawity, and Dean of the College of Nursing Dr. Jervy Bernardino. The visit aimed to introduce the Association to the College of Nursing’s mission, curriculum, simulation lab, and community-health initiatives, positioning AUK as a regional benchmark for evidence-based, competency-driven nursing education.
AUK Hosts Annual Football Tournament
On May 8, 2025, The American University of Kurdistan concluded its 2025 Football Tournament at Pirs Stadium, with the Eagles claiming a commanding 5–0 win over Sparta in the final match. Running from April 21 to May 8, the tournament brought together 11 teams: Tornado, Alho, Eagles, Titans FC, Kurdistan, Nursing, The Golden Dawn, AUK Knights, Madrid FC, Kurd, and Sparta.
AUK Welcomes Italian Consul General Tommaso Sansone
On May 14, 2025, The American University of Kurdistan (AUK) was honored to welcome Mr. Tommaso Sansone, the newly appointed Consul General of Italy in Erbil, during his official visit to campus. Mr. Sansone was warmly received by AUK President Dr. Randall Rhodes and Vice President of Finance and Administration Mr. Omed Zawity. Together, they engaged in a meaningful discussion about potential collaborations between AUK and Italian institutions, focusing on opportunities in education, innovation, and cultural exchange.
His Holiness Mar Awa III Visits AUK to Strengthen Ties with Assyrian Diaspora
On May 14, 2025, The American University of Kurdistan (AUK) was honored to host His Holiness Mar Awa III, Catholicos-Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East. He was joined by His Grace Bishop Mar Abris Youkhana and Father Esha Dawood. The visit built on connections first formed during AUK’s 10th Anniversary celebrations and focused on strengthening relationships with the Assyrian diaspora, particularly in the United States. Discussions explored opportunities for academic collaboration, faculty exchange, study-abroad programs, and scholarships for Assyrian students.
College of Nursing Holds the Inaugural Pinning Graduation

On May 24, 2025, the College of Nursing at AUK hosted its Inaugural Pinning Graduation, celebrating 23 students as they transition from academic life to professional practice. This milestone event honored the graduates’ dedication, resilience, and commitment to compassionate healthcare. Beyond marking the end of their studies, the ceremony underscored the College’s mission to prepare nursing professionals who will elevate healthcare standards both locally and globally, carrying the spirit and values of Kurdistan into the world.
