AUK Hosts Third Job Fair to Bridge Graduates to Regional Companies

On April 29, 2025, the American University of Kurdistan (AUK) hosted its third Annual Job Fair in the Mustafa Barzani Building, connecting students and alumni with 37 companies from Erbil, Duhok, and Zakho. The fair offered direct access to job, internship, and volunteering opportunities, strengthening the link between education and employment.

AUK Participates in NSSE to Enhance Student Experience

On April 14, 2025, the Center for Academic and Professional Advancement (CAPA) at the American University of Kurdistan (AUK) hosted Elevate Pitch Day in its university auditorium. Elevate Pitch Day brought together the participant teams from the Elevate Incubator Program to pitch their startup prototypes to a distinguished panel of judges and investors. After a competitive round of presentations, the winning startups were awarded office and co-working spaces.

On April 14, 2025, senior students of AUK’s College of Nursing conducted a large-scale Community Outreach Program in Seje Village, Semel District, under the theme of “Empowering Communities through Compassionate Care, Education, and Service.”

CPHS Hosts Conflict Resolution in a Divided World Workshop at AUK

On April 20, 2025, AUK hosted Conflict Resolution in a Divided World, a workshop led by Dr. Jack Williams, President of the Institute for Global Negotiation and Adjunct Professor at Sciences Po Paris. The session introduced students to core strategies in negotiation, diplomacy, and conflict management.

AUK Delegation Visits JMU and Washington to Enrich Student Life

From April 14–22, 2025, a delegation of nine students and two staff from the Office of Student Affairs visited James Madison University (JMU) in Virginia to explore best practices in student engagement and campus life. The group also visited Senator Offices and the Department of State in Washington, DC. Next academic year, the students will stage a conference at AUK to share their experiences with the campus community.

Networking Strategies with Armenian Consul at AUK

On April 22, 2025, as part of AUK's weekly Workshop Series Program, the Office of Student Affairs hosted a workshop led by Mr. Rafayel Movsesyan, the Acting Chief of Armenia’s Mission in Erbil and Armenian Consul. Held in the Library Learning Center, the session focused on the importance of networking during high-profile events and receptions, highlighting the value such connections can bring. Mr. Movsesyan shared best practices for effective networking—how to prepare beforehand, engage during the event, and maintain relationships afterward. He also provided valuable tips on attire, body language, and conversation starters to make a lasting impression.

AUK Architecture Department Hosts LEED Sustainability Workshops

On April 17, 2025, the Architectural Engineering Department at AUK held a successful series of workshops centered on the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system. The sessions offered students and participants in-depth knowledge on sustainable design practices, covering key areas such as water conservation, energy efficiency, the use of environmentally friendly materials, and the critical role of daylight access and rights in architectural design. These workshops emphasized the importance of aligning construction and renovation projects with global sustainability standards.
